SITE PLAN AND ROOF PLAN.
The interior of my design for the OU Church. Organic Space “shelters and defines but never limits or confines”. No, trapped space here. No box, with holes for windows in the walls. The sheltering roof structure of the folded concrete make the roof and continue to the sides. They have a continuous glass skylight between each that lets the interior of the church be filled with natural light. The large glass areas are oriented to the north. The roof skylights to the southeast and southwest. The low stone wall that run the back of the pews and walk is about 3 foot high. The concrete roof with skylights goes beyond this wall and returns at 90-degree angle to the wall. From the inside the mystery of where the wall and skylight end is created. Organic Space is achieved when the imagination of the person is engaged. This design, as do all my designs explore every opportunity make Organic Space. There is no trapped space here.
